چکیده
We derive the flow-background formula for jet-correlation analysis with high p T trigger particles in any azimuth window relative to reaction plane, extending the mathematic framework of previous study in [1]. Strong interaction of hard-scattering partons with the high density medium 1 created in relativistic heavy-ion collisions results in modification to jet-correlation 2 with high transverse momentum (p T) trigger particles due to jet energy loss [2,3,4]. 3 The away-side correlation opposite to the trigger particle was found to be 4 strongly modified [5,6]; the correlation structure is significantly broadened, 5 and the lost energy is dissipated into low p T particles [5] and appears to ex-6

Experimental study and numerical simulation of three dimensional two phase impinging jet flow using anisotropic turbulence model
Hydrodynamic of a turbulent impinging jet on a flat plate has been studied experimentally and numerically. Experiments were conducted for the Reynolds number range of 72000 to 102000 and a fixed jet-to-plate dimensionless distance of H/d=3.5. Based on the experimental setup, a multi-phase numerical model was simulated to predict flow properties of impinging jets using two turbulent models. Mesh...

A new analytical approach is presented for analysis of two-particle azimuthal correlations in heavy ion collisions at relativistic energies. This approach suggests that elliptic flow measured by experiment has a compound structure, namely, that it may come from superposition of several components. General expressions have been derived for the two-particle correlation function isolating the cont...
متن کاملWays to constrain the away side jet in Au + Au collisions in PHENIX
We discussed methods used by the PHENIX to constrain the flow background in the two particle jet correlation. Both the background level and elliptic flow can be reliably decomposed from the jet contribution. We also studied the non-flow contribution to the reaction plane elliptic flow due to dijets. We found the jet bias is negligible in PHENIX, when the reaction plane is measured at Beam Beam ...
متن کاملStatic Pressure Distribution in an Excited Jet: Some Observations (RESEARCH NOTE)
A plane subsonic jet was subjected to periodic oscillations in the near nozzle region by a twin vane system. During excitation, the jet was found to spread significantly and entrain mass much more than its steady counterpart. Time averaged static pressure measured in the flow field with a disc probe exhibited prominent well defined suction regions different from that of a steady jet.
متن کاملNon - flow , and what flow to subtract in jet - correlation
We derive an analytical form for jet-correlation flow-background in a cluster approach. We argue that the elliptic flow parameter to be used in jetcorrelation background is that from two-particle method excluding non-flow correlation irrelevant to reaction plane, but including cross-terms between cluster correlation and cluster flow. We verify our result with Monte Carlo simulations. We discuss...
